Bio
I am currently the CTO of Maggie Louise Confections, a luxury chocolate brand headquartered in Austin, TX. In 2014 we were selected as one of Oprah's Favorite Things and our products have been on the Today Show several times and we've been featured in Food+Wine, People, Instyle and more. Our focus is on making people feel special through storytelling with unique and luxurious confections. We're currently servicing online retail, events, and corporate/custom gifting (client list already includes notable brands such as L'Oreal Paris, Jimmy Choo, Lexus, JW Marriott and John Frieda). Prior to MLC, I cofounded and led the Innovations Group within MapMyFITNESS, Inc., a venture backed inc500 company focused on empowering the active lifestyle through health and fitness websites and mobile applications. MMF was acquired by Under Armour in 2014. MapMyFITNESS' more popular sites are MapMyRUN.com and MapMyRIDE.com and its iphone apps include NB TotalFit, iMapMyRUN, and iMapMyRIDE which help support over 30M (Dec2014) registered users. We also partnered with media and enterprise organizations to provide interactive participatory platforms in which to engage their audience outside their traditional reach. (e.g., Humana, Aetna, TDF All Access for NBC Sports, NYRR Training for the NY Marathon, Virtual Bolder Boulder Race, etc.) Our SAAS platform was also utilized by technology partners to enable them to scale into the wearable space. I'm also active in the local technology / entrepreneurship community. I am a DreamIt and Techstar Mentor. I have been a guest lecturer on Entrepreneurship at the Johns Hopkins University and I've spoken on panels and at conferences regarding the impact of data and technology on fitness and the businesses around fitness (i.e., Race Management). Random factoid: As the son of an American diplomat, I've lived in 10 different countries ranging from the Middle East to Africa.
