I have been building technology and service companies for over 25 years with a focus on healthcare and hospitality integration since the early 2000's. In 1987 I founded Voicer Technologies, a hardware-based voice recognition solution. Since then, 4 companies have been acquired and 2 have exited to the public markets. Mahana was acquired by CrunchTime in January of 2015 which was subsequently acquired by Battery Ventures a few months later. I co-founded Mahana in 2013 after exiting SubtleData, my hospitality platform company that connected mobile apps to POS systems. SD was a finalist for PYMNTS' most innovative company, named top 10 by GigaOM, and was awarded a slot in Microsoft's BizSpark One program (the top 100 of 45,000+ worldwide). Before that I co-founded SpeedMenu, a mobile ordering/payment app for hospitality deployed on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.My healthcare IT company Remote Operations specialized in integrating with EHR systems for medical transcription. I am still an expert witness and recognized expert on HL7 - the protocol to transmit patient records to EMR systems, as well as medical billing integration.In the mid-90's I served as a technical consultant to the US Air Force and the Pentagon. Additionally I authored four books on telecom and data network design/engineering, as well as co-authored a book on the “convergence” of voice, video, and data communications. My current duties include positions on the Board of Advisors for iMedia and Board of Directors for Operation Turkey - a nationwide non-profit I founded in 2000.
