Bio
Health information technology (HIT) professional with over 31 years experience in the healthcare industry. Michael's first industry job was with a healthcare software development firm which developed software solutions and offered managed services to its clients. Here Michael was deployed to several hospitals as computer operator and learned the day to day operations of hospitals. With a keen interest in computers Michael quickly learned programming and moved into software development. Within several years he began leading teams of developers and ultimately became a software architect leaving day to day coding behind. Through a unique opportunity with his employer he became the director of information systems where he learned the business aspects of the hospital industry and ultimately became the CIO while still holding on to his passion of software design. As a software solution architect Michael has designed numerous healthcare applications including menuing/security frameworks, patient tracking, patient registration, biometric patient identification, patient scheduling, ADT, patient transport, order entry/results reporting, document imaging, e-signature, barcode enabled medication administration record, comprehensive electronic health record (EHR), interfacing and integration with other healthcare applications using HL7 and other technologies, financial dashboards and other financial productivity applications. Specialties: Application software solution architect for healthcare. Chief architect and designer of the "WebHIS", Holy Name's physician and staff venerated self-developed electronic health record (EHR) and hospital information system. WebHIS achieved CCHIT certification as a "Complete EHR" for Stage 1 Meaningful Use in August of 2012.
