In February 2015, Valinda joined the IBM Ecosystem Cloud Development team and began working with developers, entrepreneurs and academics in the Chicago area to drive IBM’s cloud adoption. Hosting and leading Chicagoland technical meet-ups, as well as, collaborating with universities are daily activities for Valinda. Assisting entrepreneurs access IBM’s cloud free for one year to establish startups while working with developers to build apps faster is a typical day. Prior to this role, Valinda leveraged IBM assets to reduce the education cycle time for critical skills needed by industry through IBM’s Academic Initiative Program. Valinda has also focused on managing client executives in financial markets. Leading up to this, Valinda was in IBM Global Services including 10 years managing various services and delivery teams.During her 27 year career at IBM, Valinda Scarbro Kennedy has held a variety of engineering, sales, services and management positions.
