What I do: Serve as an account manager for a major OEM in Austin Texas. I'm design focused and work to serve engineering as one of their most trusted advocates. I do this by serving the engineers and the project from concept all the way through to end of life support. I believe that serving in account management is a womb to tomb job task. Why I do it: I love the problem solving aspect of this job. Its amazing to watch what can happen when several talented individuals get together with a common goal to fix something, make something, or just generally get the train back on the tracks. This means a lot of times I'm walking into a tough, stressful situation. That's fine enough - Its sweeter the reward to defuse, solve, and advance the relationships between supplier, customer, and distributor. Find a way, anyway, to solve and be profitable. I love the challenge. What this is not: Stand around and wait for the Purchase Order. When some people think of sales, they think of just taking the order and plugging it in the system. What I do in the new world of the sales role is so much more than that. I want to be one of them, the customer, as well as one of us, the supplier. I care about the development, growth, and direction of my customer - not just a Purchase Order. Where I want this to take me: There are those that wish to lead, and those that wish to be the President of the Company in this industry. Then there are the people that advise those people. They are the ones that know everything, everyone, and all the history...of everything. I want to be the one that knows everyone...everything...and all the history...of everything in this industry. I want to be invaluable asset to the customer and the company. If I can be everywhere and know everything, that is my admission to the party.
