Are you looking to diversify your business income? Are you looking to learn how to add government contracting to your current business model ? Are you looking to learn how to do business with the state of Texas through the HUB program? If you answered YES to any of these questions, the B.I.D Academy is for you! The Community Economic Development unit at Prairie View A&M University has been meeting with the Texas Comptroller’s Purchasing division to focus on strategies that increase bid participation and sales among Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB’s) who can provide goods and services to over 200 Texas agencies, universities, school districts, and large industries that participate in the statewide bidding process. In coordination, with the State Comptroller’s Office our partners and the Cooperative Extension Program, we developed a FREE 6-week curriculum that will take businesses through the process of not only getting HUB certified, but business planning, marketing and bidding on proposals! The B.I.D Academy is for new or existing businesses looking to do government contracting. Classes include: HUB Overview Profiles Bookkeeping/Accounting Business Planning/Marketing Subcontracting/Negotiating and Establishing Suppliers Understanding and Reviewing YOUR Credit Nontraditional Financing/Microlending Opportunities Filling of Bids Graduation Ceremony Upon program completion, participants will be certified by PVAMU and will be included on our exclusive list of trained vendors to be shared with our network of State purchasers as well as free business marketing through our various multimedia outlets.
