ISACA, Edmonton Chapter invites you to a special presentation on a healthcare cybersecurity incident. Presentation: Healthcare Botnet Malware Incident Assessment This talk is a retrospective on a major incident – a botnet malware outbreak that occurred at AHS ten years ago – of which Thomas was assigned as the Lead Incident Handler. He will review the public investigation report and give his unique perspective on the events as they unfolded and the effort dedicated to response and recovery by the IT security team. Since that time, the FBI has targeted this specific botnet, the cybersecurity profession has exploded in popularity, data breaches are front page news, and new frameworks exist to help companies manage their cybersecurity programs and incident response practices. Would he have done anything differently today? Speaker's Profile: Thomas Matthews is a Manager in the cybersecurity department at CWB Financial Group headquartered out of Edmonton and is responsible for building and maintaining the CWB cybersecurity program, which consists of Governance, Risk, and Compliance and Security Operations practices.
