Some problems are complex, others occur in times and places that are not ideal for solving them! Many times solving problems requires different approaches. This talk, led by innovative researchers in the area, addresses some key ways in which problems can be solved: mainly through gathering large groups of people, or entrepreneurial approaches within the workplace. Our goal is to make you leave this event with an expanded view of problem solving in the workplace and society, and with a stomach full of good food. We hope you can join us, and enjoy the discussion! This talk features two visiting researchers who have travelled from Aarhus University's Department of Management in Denmark, and a brief agenda is as follows: 4:00pm - Welcome, grab some food! 4:05pm - Carsten Bergenholtz, PhD: Carsten will talk about how a collective of humans can solve really complex problems maybe even better than an AI, and how this is due to humans ability to adapt to new information in a more creative way. 4:50pm - Kenneth Nygaard: Firms should look for employees who are intraprenerial, meaning entrepreneurial within a working organization. Kenneth will discuss how employees solve problems through entrepreneurial ways, especially in the startup world. 5:35pm - 6:00pm - Sharon McLennon: Sharon will discuss how the Newfoundland & Labrador Workforce Innovation Center helps solve problems related to Newfoundland's changing workforce. This talk will feature a showcase of ongoing research projects in Newfoundland & Labrador. 7:00pm - Feel free to join us for more discussion at Bootleg Brewery (no registration required for this part)! *Since we will be serving food, please register so that we order the right amount.* This event will also be livestreeamed via Facebook. Information on Parking You have two options for parking at Grenfell Campus for this event, with reference to this map: 1. Parking lot P4 is free parking. No permit is needed. 2. Parking lots P2 require a permit. If you park in these lots, you may come see us at the event in the A&S extension Room 2026, and we will give you a complimentary temporary parking pass which you can then place on the dashboard of your car.
