mHeath interventions designed and delivered in low resourced settings are gaining popularity. The rationale for mHealth is well accepted, the mechanisms for design, adaptation and delivery are improving, yet the methods for evaluating the impact are under-developed. We will present a series of case studies where mHealth programs have been implemented to support shifts in risk factors for health. In the workshop,we will address the following issues - how can we extend the reach and impact of mHealth programs across populations, and how can we determine whether these interventions are effective. Case studies from the US, New Zealand, Pacific Islands (Samoa) and the UK will be condensed into working case studies to enable discussion on the potential for equitable, measurable positive impacts from mHealth initiatives. The outputs of the facilitated discussion will include recommendations on the options for assessing the impact of mHealth programs in low resourced settings.
