Join us on March 6th for the second Zahn Innovation Summit, a premiere event in Harlem featuring thought provoking conversation from NYC government officials, investors and entrepreneurs. Our theme is "our problems, our solutions, our unicorns." We’ll be talking about the diversity of NYC’s population--the unique challenges we face--and how we can take ownership of the solutions for our own community’s problem sets. This event is all about bringing the tech/entrepreneurship community here to CCNY's campus and highlighting YOUR role in the future of NYC's tech ecosystem. Workshops: 1. "Hidden" Resources for New Yorkers w/ Desiree Frieson (NY Designs), DB Lampman (Makerspace NYC) & Maggie Tishman (Bronx Innovation Factory) - A discussion around organizations and available resources supporting the NYC entrepreneurial ecosystem, that may have an unique niche, or are located in the outer boroughs. 2. Using NYC Open Data w/ Adrienne Schmoeker, NYC Deputy Chief Analytics Officer - understand open data sets & how to use them (bring your laptop for this one!) 3. Designing a Hardware Product 101 w/ Arrow Electronics: you'll learn how to design your very own hardware product. This workshop will include refining a concept for your new product, defining what technologies the product should have, creating a block diagram, and even prototyping your design! Do not miss this opportunity on valuable knowledge to jump start your company into bringing your new product into the market! 4. Understanding Government-funded projects w/ the Mayor's Office of the CTO - we talk about funding opportunities through local government 5. Data-Driven Diversification w/ Paolo Gaudiano - finding, accessing, and using data to inform diversification 6. NYCx Co-Labs Local Challenges for Immigrant Communities (closed meeting) - The Inwood and Washington Heights Community Tech Board was convened by the NYCx Co-Labs team of the NYC Mayor’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer to inform the research behind the NYCx Co-Labs Challenges. The Community Tech Board convenes periodically to discuss local community challenges. This event will be a participatory workshop where members of the Community Tech Board will share their views regarding local challenges for immigrant communities. The Zahn Startup Competition Practice Pitch The very heart of Zahn Innovation Center is our Zahn Venture Competition. Every year, 24 teams compete for over $150,000 total prizes. You’ll meet the current teams vying for these prizes at their first public pitch in preparation for May's Demo Day. Come support and see them as they take their first step into the public eye. Read more about the 2019 Startup Cohort here. A Panel Discussion In our panel discussion, we'll discuss public-private partnerships and how you can leverage them. Speakers include Lindsay Clinton, Senior Vice President at NYCEDC and Jeremy Goldberg, Deputy CTO at the Mayor's Office of the CTO. Keynote Speaker - John Henry Voted to Forbes' 30 Under 30 and Ebony's Power 100 lists - John Henry is a Dominican-American entrepreneur and investor. Henry sold his first business by 21, is a Partner at Harlem Capital, and is the host of VICELAND's new show HUSTLE, Executive Produced by Alicia Keys.
