ASMSA Invites You to Attend: Science and Engineering Institute Date: Saturday, December 15th, 2018 Where: The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, 200 Whittington Ave., Hot Springs, AR, 71901 Time: 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Cost: FREE! Who Can attend: All Arkansas students currently enrolled in 8th - 9th grade Students will attend both of the following sessions: Optics of the Eye (90 min.)In this session we will look at how light reflects and refracts and how these principles work in the eye to give us vision. We will also look at common vision defects and how corrective lenses are used to remediate them. Student will use scale model eyes to examine these effects. and Robotics (90 min.)In this session we will use LEGO Mindstorms to explore open and closed loop control. Ultimately, we will train robots to follow lines. Schedule of events: 9:00 - 9:15 Registration 9:15 - 10:30 Session 1 10:30 - 10:45 Break 10:45 - 12:00 Session 2 *PLEASE PRINT AND SIGN THE FOLLOWING: ASMSA General Release and Waiver and Media Release Form Your child should bring the completed forms to the event.
