About: The Genome 10K Community of Scientists (G10KCOS), a consortium of leading scientists representing research centers, zoos, museums, and academic institutions from around the world, is dedicated to coordinating international efforts for large-scale sequencing and analyses projects. Currently, the G10KCOS is focusing on the Vertebrate Genomes Project (Twitter @genomeark), which aims to generate near error-free reference genome assemblies of all 66,000 extant vertebrate species. The 2018 G10K Annual Meeting will be dedicated to coordinating efforts for the VGP and other G10K projects. The 2018 G10K Annual Meeting will consist of plenary talks, working groups, and networking events. Registration includes access to all sessions and some meals. Registration does not include accommodations or travel. The full program will be available in late summer/early fall. Early bird registration closes August 15th, 2018. Venue: The 2018 Annual G10K Meeting will be held at The Rockefeller University, 1230 York Ave, New York, NY 10065. Established in 1901, The Rockefeller University (RU) is the world's leading biomedical research university, drawing top scientists and graduate students from around the world in pursuit of one mission: to conduct science for the benefit of humanity. RU has an extensive record of achievement with 25 Nobel Prize, 22 Lasker Awards, and 20 National Medals of Science. RU shares the intersection of York Avenue and East 68th Street with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.  Logistics:  * Airport: The closest airports are John F. Kennedy (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA); both are international airports.  * Ground Transportation: Taxis, Ubers, Lyfts, and other car services are readily available. Citi Bike is also available. * Accommodations: Room blocks have been made at the Bentley Hotel, The Helmsley Medical Tower Guest Facility, and The Shelburne Hotel and Suites by Affinia. Please mention the "G10K conference at Rockefeller University" for special pricing. Room blocks at special pricing will be available for booking until August 9th, 2018.  The Bentley: There are 15 rooms on hold for the room block at $299 a night. You can call  (212) 689-5200 to reserve your room.  * Meals: Registration includes breakfast on 9/13 and 9/14, lunch on 9/12, 9/13, and 9/14, morning and afternoon coffee breaks, and welcome reception on 9/12 and reception dinner on 9/13.  Organizers: This year's VGP Annual Meeting Organization Committee includes Erich Jarvis, Sadye Paez, Lauren Shanker, and Beth Shapiro.  Posters/Abstract Submission: If you would like to submit an abstract, please use the following guidelines. Submissions are due by Monday, August 20th, 2018, 5pm EST (email to Sadye, [email protected]). Decisions will be made by committee and notifications emailed by Monday, August 27th.   Rules for Abstract Submission: 1. Report original research: at the time of abstract submission, the research must not have been previously published verbatim as a meeting abstract or article; additionally, the research may not be presented verbatim at another meeting prior to the G10K meeting. 2. State the research objectives and rationale, summarize methods and results, and state the conclusions (300-word limit) 3. Students may only submit one abstract as a first/presenting author. 4. The first author should present the work at the G10K meeting. 5. Poster setup may begin on the first day. 6. Poster presentations will occur during the following times: Wednesday’s Welcome Reception, Thursday Lunch Break, and Friday Lunch Break. Specific dates/times will be assigned; if you are not able to present on the specific date/time that you are assigned, we will find another date/time that is available for you.
