Join us for the 8th Annual Directors of Clinical Skills Courses (DOCS) Meeting!   Friday November 2, 2018 7am - 5pm Austin Convention Center Level 3, Room 9AB Meeting fee:  $200 (by 10/19/18) Late fee:  $250 (after 10/19/18) The DOCS meeting will take place prior to the  AAMC Meeting on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX.  Please note that in order to attend the DOCS meeting, the AAMC asks that you also register for at least one day of the Learn Serve Lead meeting.  Keynote Speaker:  Paul Haidet, MD, MPH, is a general internist and Professor of Medicine at Penn State Hershey’s College of Medicine.  He is well known in the medical education world for his demonstrated innovation, creativity, and leadership, and was the recipient of the 2015 Anne L. Brodie Medical Education Scholar Award.  His areas of scholarly focus include doctor/patient communication, interprofessional communication, team-based learning, and critical thinking.  He has been a long standing contributing member of the Academy of Communication in Healthcare.  He is also known for his unique presentations on Jazz and the Art of Teaching.  With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, many in the field of education, we are thrilled to welcome Paul as our keynote speaker this year.  Always a dynamic educator, Paul will be speaking about critical thinking, clinical reasoning and communication skills. Hot Topics Speaker:   Michael Barone, MD, MPH, is a pediatrician and Vice President of Licensure Programs at the National Board of Medicine Examiners.  Prior to that role, he was Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Dean for Faculty Educational Development at Johns Hopkins University.  Dr. Barone is an accomplished educational scholar and administrator and speaks nationally and internationally on a range of topics, most recently about the role the NBME plays in physician licensure.  We are very fortunate to have Michael join us as our Hot Topics Speaker this year.  Michael has been invited to talk about USMLE Step 2 CS and will give a brief introduction to the topic, followed by a Question and Answer period.
