Transcending Incrementalism in Materials Science and Engineering is a celebration with a purpose: we are celebrating the career of Dr. Wade Adams, former Chief Scientist of the Materials Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory and former Director of the Richard E. Smalley Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology. Wade is retiring, and that calls for a party.. Here's purpose. We are stating an ambitious challenge: We have problems to solve that will not wait for incremental improvements of existing technologies. Population pressure, a new and threatening climate norm, energy needs, health-science needs. We can SOLVE many of these problems with advanced materials. But not today’s materials. To achieve new solutions, we are puttin brilliant people together from multiple disciplines and industries and INCITING them to come up with new ideas. And finally, to transcend incrementalism in materials, we have to transcend it in funding. Where to stay: Please try this link first: Book your group rate for Wade Fest Room Block This is tor the Marriott Medical Center and it officially expires on June 7, but may remain active even so.
