Join us to discover 'Edenburgh'This summer, why not join Edinburgh World Heritage for our special guided tours of the enchanting gardens of the Old and New Towns. Our guides will lead you off the beaten track to discover some of the less well-known gardens of the World Heritage site, which are part of our UNESCO World Heritage inscription. You'll also hear about some of the people and stories associated with these special places. Each event will finish with a garden party drinks reception, a perfect way to end an Edinburgh summer’s evening. Thursday 5 July 2018 “Hidden Gardens of the Old Town” The dense streets and wynds of Edinburgh's Old Town may seem an unlikely place to find gardens and greenery. Yet here you can find a wealth of private and community gardens set back from the main thoroughfare, each with its own unique history and design. Let us guide you through the secluded green treasures of the Old Town and share their stories and secrets with you.This tour finishes with a drinks reception in Edinburgh World Heritage’s own hidden garden at Bakehouse Close. Start time: 6pm Meeting Point: Netherbow Wellhead, outside John Knox’s House, Royal Mile, Edinburgh Thursday 13 September 2018 “Glorious Georgian Gardens of the New Town” The world famous gardens of Edinburgh’s New Town boast an incredible variety of design and planting style, and add colour and harmony to our city’s urban landscape.Join us for this special chance to access these beautiful gardens and discover their history and features.This tour will finish with a garden party drinks reception. Start time: 6pm Meeting Point: To be advised PLEASE NOTE: These tours will each last around 1.5 hours and cover between 2 and 3 miles. Please come prepared for walking with adequate footwear and rain protection!
