This talk provides an overview of the newly-released standards and how they work together to allow production workflows to be completely IP-based from source to destination. This update will also describe a number of standards that are still in the works, along with related publications that are being created by groups like the VSF and AMWA for supporting and streamlining IP video and audio workflows. Part 2: IP Audio and Intercom: Connecting, Converting and Switching for Production Speaker: Rafael Fonseca IP technology brings a wealth of benefits to live audio production, including increased flexibility, wide-area connectivity, and lower total cost. However, a number of competing formats (some of which are proprietary) have gained acceptance in market and are not directly interoperable. This talk begins with a brief overview of some of the technologies used in IP audio and intercom, and covers the key similarities and differences between today’s popular formats. Audio networking issues will then be discussed, including overall synchronization using PTP, converting between formats, and the crucial role played by managed, PTP-aware switches in delivering high-quality audio signals.
