POWER WITH PURPOSE: Community Choice Energy Best Practices Symposium Tuesday, June 5th Plus Pre-Symposium Events Monday, June 4th The Center for Climate Protection, Local Government Commission, and the Local Government Sustainable Energy Coalition are once again bringing the Business of Local Energy Symposium to California for its fourth year. Join Community Choice Agency (CCA) experts and leaders from across the state on June 5th for a day-long event about accelerating CCA adoption, sharing best practices, and creating more benefits for local communities. This is a watershed year for Community Choice in California. There are 9 operational Community Choice Agencies with another 10 likely to be online in the next year. They are emerging as a powerful force, but there are regulatory and legislative uncertainties which must be proactively addressed. Community Choice Agencies are also still clarifying their purpose, developing their business models, defining themselves, and differentiating themselves from the investor-owned utilities. The Symposium will explore these opportunities and challenges with experts in the field. Please join us for a reception after the Symposium from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. New this year: Two pre-symposium event options. THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO PURCHASE A REGULAR SYMPOSIUM TICKET AS WELL. * Join us on June 4th for a PRE-EVENT WORKSHOP from 2:00 to 5:00 pm (no lunch served but snacks provided). The workshop will focus on distributed energy resource projects that build local resiliency, provide unique customer services and contribute to local economic development. Space is limited to 120 people. Workshop cost: $30 Early Bird (by April 15); $45 plus service fee Regular. * Also on June 4th, depart by charter bus from the Sheraton at 10:30 am for a PRE-EVENT TOUR of California Independent System Operator in Folsom. Come see the facility where CAISO personnel manage the high-voltage transmission system and wholesale power market. Snacks will be provided The bus will return to the Sheraton by 1:00 pm (no lunch served but snacks will be provided). Space is limited to 50 people. Tour cost: $30 plus service fee. Important note about CAISO tour: Upon arrival at CAISO all visitors must provide a valid government-issued photo identification. Foreign visitors must submit their names and passport information to CAISO by May 4th. Help accelerate the wave of local renewables sweeping California!
