The stunning wonder of the cosmos is on display at elevations ranging from 8,000 to 12,095 feet, offering a stunning glimpse back in time and across the universe. Join us for new moon stargazing. When the moon is dark, the stars and planets shine! These smaller events provide the opportunity for longer viewing times, more thorough explanations of what you are seeing, how the cosmos work, and telescope technology. We’ve teamed up with local astronomers who have 8″, 10″ and 16″ telescopes that will let you see the rings of Saturn and deep into the cosmos where nebulae and novae await! This is serious stargazing for experienced and novice stargazers alike! Telescopes and Viewing Instructions 1. Do not touch the telescopes unless instructed to. These are professional, very expensive pieces of equipment.2. Children MUST BE SUPERVISED at all times by a responsible adult.3. You are encouraged to bring binoculars or telescopes if you have them.4. We will have red light keychain flashlights to borrow. If you have one, bring it.5. DO NOT US FLASH or any other light that is not red beyond the parking lot. It takes a good 20-30 minutes to achieve night vision, and you could ruin that for others. Please make sure that the flash on your phone or camera is disabled before you leave the parking lot, and dim the screen on your phone as much as possible. What to bring 1. Dress in layers. It can get chilly quickly at night.2. A blanket or chairs to sit on3. Binoculars or telescope, if you have them (but not necessary).4. Red light flashlight if you have one. If not, we will provide them5. Water/water bottle. We will have some cold water on hand.6. Star Gazing apps on mobile devices, if you have them. (Please dim your phone's screen as much as possible)
