In June of 2017 Georgia Tech entered the Ford Strategic University Alliance program. This program includes a Master Research Agreement that can be used for any sponsored research projects between Ford and Georgia Tech. It also includes a program that funds research projects aligned with Ford’s strategic direction. To formally initiate this year’s program, the Ford Global External Alliance Network (GLEAN) Manager, Ed Krause and the Ford Alliance Manager for Georgia Tech, Dr. Sam Hamade, will have an information session for any interested researchers. Sam will explain the purpose of the program and provide guidance regarding what areas are of most strategic interest for Ford in this funding round. The funding program is formal and has a required format and timeline for researchers wishing to submit projects. In 2018 Georgia Tech researchers will have access to this program on the same time line with other strategic universities. On the Georgia Tech side the Ford Alliance is managed by a team that includes Jennifer Chatham, GTRC; Caroline Wood, Corporate Relations; and Bill Cutts, Office of Industry Collaboration. The specifics of the Master Research Agreement place some additional constraints on Georgia Tech researchers performing under this agreement.
