Robert J. Brown Educational Equity Foundation is collaborating with the Morehouse School of Medicine for a Regional STEAM Explosion event entitled “Envision the Dream.” The purpose is to open the doors to under-served communities for long-term engagement in STEAM learning and career path development. The event will take place on Thursday, April 5 in remembrance of Dr. King’s assassination and his legacy. The Robert J. Brown Education Equity Foundation will be partnering with the HUD-Veterans Affinity Group, to invite 300 Students ages 10-17 from regional urban and public housing communities to attend. Other event contributors include Technology for the Future, Morehouse and Spelman College, United States Military Academy at West Point, and Arts of Engagement. Representatives will conduct breakout sessions in robotics, coding, medicine, film production, music production, situational leadership, and business concepts. Each breakout will address different STEM-related concepts and skills, but all address key aspects of the innovation process. In addition, the workshop sessions will expose students to a variety of career paths and cultural spheres of society. ***** Please click go to http://bit.ly/STEAMRevolution to fill out your survey when you register.***** Below is the draft agenda for the day: 7:30 - 8:30am Registration 8:30 - 915am Welcome reception 9:30 - 10:15am Breakout sessions (students will choose two of five activities) 10:30 - 11:15am Breakout Sessions (Half of the students will go on college tours from 9:30 - 11:15am) 11:30 - Noon Break for Lunch - Food will be provided After lunch, the college tour team will swap and take the other half of the students. Tours include Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Morehouse School of Medicine 12:15 - 1pm Break Out Sessions 1:15 - 2:00pm Break out Sessions 2:15 - 3:00pm Final Assembly and Award Presentations 3:30pm Dismissal The target number of Children is 300 plus the chaperones from the groups they represent.
