STEM Expo + Annual Meeting The STEM Expo is a teacher-led forum exploring the future of STEM Education in NYC and beyond. Drawing from our 950+ member network of STEM educators, the event will include live demos and displays, an interactive Unconference, and presentations from teachers and practitioners working in the field today. STEMteachersNYC members and partner organizations are encouraged to share projects from the past year, network with other teachers, and find out more about our summer and fall programs! SCHEDULE 10am - 11am | STEM Expo + Networking The STEM Expo features work from our 950+ member network of STEM educators and partners. Explore a variety of teaching tools, organizational resources and hands-on demonstrations. Members or organizations can reserve a table to showcase an activity, resource, or student work from the year as part of the “STEM Expo”. Please RSVP by filling out this brief form! 11am | STEM Education Panel This year we have a fantastic lineup of speakers who will discuss their ideas on the future of STEM Education in NYC and beyond. Guest Speakers: Althea Hoard, Director of STEM for Uncommon Schools Stephen Gilman, Executive Director of MakerState Catherine Garland, Science Teacher at Uncommon Charter High School 11:30am | STEMteachersNYC Unconference Break out sessions and discussions exploring a range of topics decided on by our members. Have an idea for a session or topic - let us know by filling out this brief form! 12-2pm | Special break-out session for elementary school STEM educators 1pm | Light Lunch 2pm | Annual Meeting and Elections At the Annual Meeting, there will be reports on our activities, a preview of what's being planned for the future, and there will be elections, and nominations from the floor. Additional details about the open positions and how to make nominations prior the meeting will be forthcoming. ================= FAQs PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO RECORDINGS. We take photographs and record video of our workshops in order to publicize a positive image of science teaching, and of STEMteachersNYC - a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. If you register, you are agreeing to be photographed and to have your voice and image video-recorded. You are also agreeing to relinquish all your rights to the photographs and video recordings. If you do not wish to be photographed or video-recorded, you must inform us when you check in at the beginning of the workshop. We will take one photograph of your face so that we can erase your image if we happen to catch it by chance during the workshop, and we will do our best to avoid you. We would also appreciate your cooperation in positioning yourself at the edge of the group so as to help us avoid you. Yes. STEMteachersNYC is a Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) vendor for the New York City Department of Education (#STE-068881).
