#0000FF UNITE! There are a ton of groups, hackerspaces and conferences for the red teamers or security researchers, but the regular defenders are woefully underserved. We're looking to change that. We would like to create a regular meetup with just the defenders in and around PDX. This is will be a semi-formal group where we can all meet, build trust and educate one another on the day-to-day life of an Information Security Blue Teamer. As this is the first meeting, we don't have a lot of details of the hows and whats just yet, that's a part of the agenda. Additionally, we've invited Tom Pace to come and give a condensed version of his Black Had seminar! It's a hands on affair, so bring your laptop! Come build the world you want to live in! Agenda 12PM: Reception / Lunch: Get here early, get some food! 1PM: Administration: A discussion on what we want this group to be? 2PM: Threat Hunting with ML and ELK with Tom Pace Threat Hunting with ML and ELK with Tom Pace Tom will show how using ELK and machine learning can enable you to cut through the noise and find the key data points. By instrumenting PowerShell to collect essential host-based artifacts, leveraging Elastic for hyper-fast searching, and generating dynamic visualizations using Kibana, unprecedented data representations will allow threat hunters to pivot from data point to data point. Leveraging multiple ML algorithms such as K-Means and Neural Networks, Tom will highlight malicious and/or anomalous activity occurring on the hosts. These algorithms will be leveraged to identify malicious user activity, anomalous time slices, and to detect DGA domains on the network. FAQs What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Parking is pain downtown. There are a couple garages and lots that are within 2 blocks of the WTC. If you are coming from the other side of the tunnel, we recommend taking the MAX. The WTC is a block off the Yamhill stop for the Red/Blue line. What can I bring into the event?
