After a recent election that included failed but strongly supported zoning and rent stabilization questions, as well as Gov. LePage’s veto of the most recent version of the legislature’s recreational marijuana rules, Portland and the state of Maine remain anticipating (or delaying) significant changes to the commercial real estate market. How could new laws and regulations affect investment in growing industries such as hospitality, brewing, shipping, and of course, commercial cannabis products? What will the impact be on property rents, leases and sale prices? This forum, moderated by business reporter J. Craig Anderson, will anticipate outcomes and explore opportunities with a panel of people involved in the market. Doors open at 7:15 a.m. Program begins at 7:45 a.m. One the panel: Erin Cooperrider, Partner, NewHeight Group and Development Director, Community Housing of Maine In her work with NewHeight Group, Erin manages permitting, financing, and the construction process. During her tenure at CHOM, Erin has helped to grow the organization’s asset base from $7 million to more than $60 million. Erin was a co-founder of The Signal Group, currently chairs the board of directors of CEI, Inc. and serves on the Advisory Council of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. Erin received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her graduate degree from Stanford University. Greg Hastings, Broker and Partner, NAI The Dunham Group Greg Hastings, joined the Dunham Group in 1987 and has worked exclusively in the industrial real estate market for 30 years. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College and the University of Maine School of Law. In 1993, he was the 2nd broker in the state to be awarded the prestigious SIOR designation. He is a past board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Portland, the Maine Commercial Association of Realtors and is also a Trustee Emeriti of Waynflete School in Portland. Chris Paszyc, Broker and Partner, CBRE | The Boulos Company Mr. Paszyc joined CBRE | The Boulos Company in 2005. His areas of expertise include investment sales, disposition of distressed assets, tenant/buyer representation and development site location and disposition. Mr. Paszyc holds the prestigious CCIM designation. CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, and investment analysis. Prior to joining CBRE | The Boulos Company, Mr. Paszyc spent five years as Director of Planning & Development for the City of Gardiner, Maine. He spearheaded successful efforts in downtown revitalization and business development. Chris is a graduate of the University of Maine, BA and MPA. He served in the US Marine Corps Infantry (Reserve) and as Town Manager for two Maine municipalities.
