Data science is rapidly evolving as an essential interdisciplinary field, where advances often result from combinations of ideas from several disciplines. This conference, to be hosted annually by Rice University, is for professionals and practitioners working in machine learning, deep learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, or big data problems broadly. Recognizing that discovery and innovation happens at interfaces of disciplines and communities, this conference aims to bring together a diverse set of people from multiple communities spanning academia and industry. The primary audience is researchers engaged in developing the foundations of data science as well as end-users working on critical problems that will use data science to advance industry or societal problems. The conference will enable participants to network across industries and engage in collaboration that will advance both the foundation and applications of data science.
