Will You Be on the Ground Floor of the All Direct Current Building? What are the Opportunities?
This month we have a blue-ribbon panel lined up to explore opportunities for innovation in the emerging marketplace of DC (Direct Current) powered buildings, including data centers, offices, homes, and schools. This is poised to take off due to a confluence of changes in both power generation and consumption:
· Favorable solar power and energy storage economics, including Tesla’s entry into home energy systems
· An increasing trend toward DC devices, led by data centers, electronics, LED lighting, and electric vehicles
· A Smart Grid that can economically manage heterogeneous power systems
Our panel:
Andres Carvallo (moderator) is CEO of CMG, a strategy consulting and advisory company focusing on enabling smart cities. He is also board director of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel and former CIO at Austin Energy. He has co-authored the best-selling book “The Advanced Smart Grid”. A copy of the book (selling at $99) will be given away at the meeting.
Drew Vigen is CEO of ALGLO and was the main speaker at TAG last February. ALGLO has introduced the True LED lighting system into several industries and offers tools for LED design and light fixture prototyping. Drew is organizer of the Austin Hardware Startup Meetup.
Additional panelists have been invited.
