The NINR Intramural Research Program will host a symposium, Symptom Science Research: A Path to Precision Health, highlighting Intramural’s scientific advances and collaborations across the National Institutes of Health and other organizations. The NINR Intramural Research Program is dedicated to conducting basic and clinical research on the biological, genetic, and behavioral mechanisms underlying symptoms of chronic conditions. The ultimate scientific goal is to enhance patient outcomes for individuals with conditions such as digestive disorders, cancer-related fatigue, and traumatic brain injury. The symposium will include scientific panels on: The Role of the Gut-Liver-Brain Axis on Inflammation, Addiction and Infection – Moderated by Dr. Wendy Henderson, Investigator, NINR The Role of Inflammatory and Glutamatergic Pathways on Fatigue – Moderated by Dr. Leorey Saligan, Investigator, NINR Identifying Biomarkers to Improve Clinical Care of Patients with Brain Injury – Moderated by Dr. Jessica Gill, Investigator, NINR There will also be a poster session to highlight the research conducted by NINR’s intramural fellows and trainees along with collaborating scientists from the NIH community and other Institutions.
