What do scientists do all day? What type of jobs can I get with a science degree? Do I have to work in a laboratory all day? Sit down with a scientist and allow them to share their experiences with you as you explore these questions and more in our monthly program! February Scientist: Alejandra Constante, PhD (Materials Science), University of Alabama - Birmingham Alejandra Constante is a Materials Science Bioengineer studying alternative uses of plant fibers from one of the world's most abundant plants: algae. The fibers present in algae have a diverse range of uses, from an alternative-energy biofuel to a fortifying composite of automobile components. Dr. Constante's research is at the cutting edge of bioengineering, focusing on the use of blue-green algae as a natural reinforcement of composite materials. This event is free; registration is recommended, but not required.
