The on-going revolution in epidemiology and clinical trials driven by the use of digital devices and rapid development of technologies has created an exciting but challenging environment in contemporary dental research. Mobile applications, use of big data, and digital imaging enabling remote scoring, to name but a few, can all be utilised to not only improve data collection, quality and reliability but also create and support interventions to address the problems still seen in dental health today. We have invited some of the world experts in digital research to present both the techniques currently being employed (for caries, fluorosis and periodontal disease) and also looking to the future of digital dental research, the opportunities and challenges including the ethical and statistical barriers to implementation of new technologies. We are pleased to offer 100 free places to attendees. Breakfast and lunch will be provided in the fantastic surroundings of the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf hotel – close to the waterfront in San Francisco.
