The Ronald and Valerie Sugar Distinguished Speaker Series is a new program designed to provide UCLA Engineering students with exclusive access to preeminent leaders in engineering and science. Students will have the opportunity to learn directly from the distinguished speaker as well as network with alumni and industry professionals. About Our Speaker Dr. Ronald D. Sugar was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Northrop Grumman Corporation, a global aerospace and defense company, having held these posts from 2003 until his retirement in 2010. Ron has served as chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association and is a fellow of both the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Royal Aeronautical Society. He currently serves as a board director of Apple Inc., Chevron Corporation, Amgen Inc., Air Lease Corporation, as well as senior advisor to private investment firm Ares Management, LLC. Ron received his Bachelor of Science, Master’s and PhD degrees in Engineering from UCLA in 1968, 1969, and 1971, respectively.
