Welcome to the 2017 Central Lane EMS CEU Summit. The committee has arranged a number of dynamic and interesting topics over the three day summit. Our goal is to provide quality, cost effective EMS CEUs to the EMT's who serve our communities. The summit would not be possible if not for the generous donation of time and funding by Peace Health, Eugene/Springfield Fire, Lane Fire Authority, LifeFlight Network, and Region 5 Training Association. Use the passport for your continuing education verification. Every conference session and amount of time you are given for continuing education is listed in the passport booklet along with a recommended CE category. THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING AND ENJOY THE CONFERENCE! 2017 EMS CEU Summit Schedule High Threat Tactics, Techniques and Treatments for Emergency Responders (HT4) Course Description: Nationally Fire and EMS services are increasingly being exposed to “High Threat” scenarios such as violent crime, active shooter, bombings and disaster response. Traditionally the assumption has been specially trained EMS or Law Enforcement personnel would deploy to treat and manage these incidents. However a review of high threat incidents over the last ten years indicates the responder on duty or local volunteer is treating the majority of patients generated by these incidents. This one day (8 hour) course provides an awareness level training for the responder who answers the call daily. This course will address active shooter facts/myths, scene awareness on everyday calls, CCP selection, hot/warm/cold zones and self care. In addition this course centers on the right interventions at the right time during the three phases of care: direct, indirect and evacuation. The class with conclude with hands-on scenarios and an introduction to the Rescue Task Force concept. This course follows treatment guidelines established by PHTLS and the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. www.c-tecc.org This course awards 8 hours of EMS continuing education through the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) and 8 hours of continuing education for law enforcement officers through DPSST. Register by January 25, 2017 Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Course Description: The goal of the AHA PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.This will be an initial class completed in one day (long day but worth it for many).Audience: EMT-I, paramedic, nurse, respiratory therapist and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced cardiac life support emergencies.
