2017 Urban Landscape Summit Call for Submissions March 16-17, 2017, Straughn Center Abstract Submission Deadline: November 30, 2016 Abstract Acceptance Notification: January 13, 2017 http://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/clce/events/urban-landscape-summit.html The 2017 UF/IFAS Center for Landscape Conservation and Ecology Urban Landscape Summit will feature presentations of applied research or extension projects pertaining to urban landscape issues in Florida. Possible urban landscape topics include technology use in the landscape, HOA/homeowners incentives, or landscape maintenance. Summit Divisions Lightning Rounds - 5 minutes Research and Extension Sessions - 20 minutes Graduate Student Poster Presentation Competition - 2 minutes Abstract Submission Guidelines Submit a 500-word abstract. Select your preferred division; however, the committee has the discretion to move accepted oral presentations into a different division. Oral presentation submissions not selected may be invited to present their topic in poster format. Submit a proposal. Graduate Student Poster Presentation Competition One M.S. and one Ph.D. poster will be awarded as long as there are at least five submission in each category. Participants will present their project in a 2 minute lightning round and it will be followed by a traditional poster session. Participants are judged on importance of the subject to Florida, scientific merit, experimental design rigor, literature review, completeness, clarity, and response to questions. Award recipients will receive a monetary award towards their graduate work. Tentative Agenda Day 1, Thursday, March 16 8:30 am – Registration 9 am – Opening Remarks 9:15 am – Keynote Speaker 10 am – Break 10:15 am – Student Lightning Presentations (2 minutes each) 11:30 am – Lunch, Poster Session, & Networking 1:30 pm – Research and Extension Session (20 minutes each) 3 pm – Break 3:15 pm –Lightning Round (5 minutes each) 4:45 pm – Student Award Presentation 5 pm –Adjourn 6-9 pm – Evening Reception & Networking – First Magnitude Brewery – food & drinks on your own Day 2, Friday, March 17 7:30-8:30 – Coffee & Networking 8:30 am – Research and Extension Session (20 minutes each) 9:15 am – Lightning Round (5 minutes each) 10:15 am – Break 10:30 am – Research and Extension Session (20 minutes each) 11:45 am – Closing Remarks Noon – Adjourn Summit Contact: Emily Eubanks, [email protected]
