ASMSA Invites You to Attend: Science and Engineering Institute Date: Saturday, January 21st, 2017 Where: The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, 200 Whittington Ave., Hot Springs, AR, 71901 Time: 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Cost: FREE! Who Can attend: All Arkansas students currently enrolled in 6th - 9th grade Students will attend the following session: Cancer: How it forms and how we fight it (3 Hrs): Participants will learn what steps are necessary to transform a healthy cell into a cancerous one and will find out about the latest breakthroughs in cancer treatments including nanotechnology, immunotherapy, vaccines and genome editing. They will also conduct a lab to compare healthy cheek cells with cancerous ones. Schedule of events: 9:00 - 9:15 Registration 9:15 - 10:30 Session 1 10:30 - 10:45 Break 10:45 - 12:00 Session 2 Parents or legal guardians: Please print and sign the ASMSA General Release and Waiver and Media Release Form. Your child should bring the completed forms to the event. Extras will be provided on site which can be completed prior to the event.
