What is the “Internet of Things (IoT),” and what are things you should know about it? Are the IoT devices I got for Christmas secure? What happened back in the end of October that shut down a lot of the Internet services I use on a daily basis and what does it have to do with IoT? Will IoT be a target for cybercriminals and malicious actors online? Those questions and more will be answered in this next edition of the Security Engagement Series, brought to you by the CyberDEF Dojo. This quarterly event series brings you expert presenters in topics related to security to share their knowledge on how you can best protect yourself and your business in our connected world. For this event, we will be bringing you Richard Johanning, VP of Critical Infrastructure Protection at AECOM. He will offer an overview of IoT and offer his perspective on the issues involved with IoT and how they can affect you and your business. There also will be a technical demonstration, as well. You can expect a wealth of information about IoT from Richard to help you understand where we stand with IoT in our networks and how IoT has been used for cyber attacks. Here is Richard’s bio: Rich Johanning (CISSP, CERM, C|EH, CWNP, MBA) is AECOM's Vice President responsible for Critical Infrastructure Protection Innovation. He is responsible for AECOM's Critical Infrastructure Protection leadership on technology issues, management of technology research and review function, ensuring the alignment of technology vision with CIP strategy, and for driving technology innovation throughout AECOM Critical Infrastructure Protection opportunities. He and his team of Industrial Control System (ICS) experts specialize in Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Analysis, Information Assurance, and offer other risk consultancy and security management services to corporate and government clients. As a security professional with over 25 years of operational experience, Rich specializes in many areas of security, concentrating on radio frequency, ICS, and IT security engineering, vulnerability analysis and research. He has provided security services for the Department of Defense, intelligence, oil and gas, and finance sectors globally. There will be a Q&A and panel session after the main presentation.
